idewater Pride hosted a workshop on pony play a few years ago.  We had a blast so they decided to do one each year.  In 2003, it was planned but a hurricane caused a cancellation.  This year we had a great get together.  There were several ponyboys there although mostly new but eager to learn; and ponyboys just the same.  One in particular had his Mistress with him and I was honored to help them learn some things.  I also was honored to give her a ride so she could get a feel for it.  Her name is Mistress V and She loved it!  She was fantastic at riding and she really likes to make the horse trot and run. 

She rode me around for 5 or 10 minutes then I spent some time explaining to them both about some of the things she experienced riding.  I also gave him some information on the bit, reins, response, etc... It was now about time for the workshop.  I asked Mistress V if she might assist me by riding me and also driving me in the cart for the demo.  Again, she was fantastic.. we didn't want to stop!  But Paul Reed from Equus Eroticus needed to do his part of the workshop on show ponies and four legged pony riding.

After the workshop, I had the chance for a ponygirl named "Starr", who I had met previously and had assisted Paul with a workshop for Black Rose a few years earlier, to take a ride.  She was a little concerned as she said she was near 200 pounds at 5'8" but I put her mind at ease and she mounted me with no problems.  She rode about 2 or 3 minutes and knew that her balance and position was not correct.  With a little adjustments, she was in her seat and felt like she was at the most 100 pounds.  She rode me around for quite a while, maybe 20 or 30 minutes (I have no sense of time when I get in to pony space).  She stopped riding and I came out of my deep pony space just as she got off of me.  I was hoping she would have rode a lot longer but she was wanting to do some ponygirl play and had other play lined up for later that night as well.  She will for sure be riding me again and we talked about doing photos and maybe videos soon!

After she rode me, Mistress Lynn wanted to ride.  She had ridden me a few years earlier and had brought along her daughter and a good friend from work.  The friend was hesitant, as was her daughter, so Mistress Lynn got ready to mount.  Now my tack is very old and on occasion a rivet might need to be replaced.  It just so happened that the pressure from where Mistress Lynn was pulling to mount (from the ground) came loose.  I went to try and find a repair kit but had no luck.  When I returned, they were into a deep conversation so none of those 3 rode.

Mistress V did however take another ride and spent about 20 or 30 minutes running me around some trees like she used to do when she would barrel race.  Now I should explain that barrel racing usually requires on hand with the reins and a crop and the other with a saddle horn to hold on to.. My tack is not made for this type of riding but with a little more practice Mistress V would have it down.  She did manage to get a few kicks in with her spurs and a few swats with her riding crop.  I know with a little practice, this horse would have felt them all a lot more and would have been going a lot faster with this marvelous rider!

We briefly talked about my visiting them to help them more with pony play as well as to be her horse to ride with steeple chase and barrel racing styles as well as some trail riding.  Mistress V and Star both made the trip fantastic and I look forward to many hours under them for their enjoyment!
