I go doing workshops and teaching classes, I get asked a variety of questions, as well as questions via email. There seems to be a mind
set that pony play has to do with having sex with animals.
This is NOT pony play! So, I've put a little FAQ list to help
you understand what Pony Play is. First keep in mind that Pony
Play is done by consenting individuals who want to have fun, who want to
PLAY. Some
enjoy skydiving, some enjoy water or snow skiing, some horseback
riding, and some pony play or human pony riding. For this FAQ
the term "pony" is in reference to a human who is role playing like
or as a pony (or the animal). The term "bio horse" is used to
describe a biological born horse (equine).
What is Pony Play? It is different
for each player but the basics is where one takes on the role of a
pony (or sometimes a mule, donkey, etc..). Sometimes it is
just the one person, like playing dress up, dreaming of the
peacefulness of fields. Other times there may be more
participants.
Do I have to be Kinky? No, although a lot
of my riders have been or are into the various forms of kink and/or
a bdsm lifestyle, I have had a lot
more riders that aren't. These may or may not want to be
mentioned or seen on the internet. Other riders are Professional Dominants
and/or
lifestyle Female Dominants and some are more submissive in the
lifestyle, etc... They all just enjoy the Pony Play idea
and the adventure of something new and different. 99% of the
ladies who have ridden me LOVED it and I think a high percentage
would own a human equine 24/7 if logistics were right.
Who does Pony Play? Almost EVERYONE at
one time or another has done some form of pony play in our lives.
Mostly as kids when we would ride our parents on their backs or
shoulders around the house, or in the park. Or with the
neighborhood kids, playing Cowboys and Indians and sometimes one is
playing as the horse, etc... For some reason, some adults think
as we become adults, we can't have some of the same fun or do things we did when we were kids.
Where Does Pony Play Take Place?
I've seen a lot of pony play on sitcoms and television shows.
Most recently, the ABC show "According to Jim" which aired
February 4,
2003 (Season 2: Episode 15). I've seen it in vacuum cleaner advertisements, in
magazines, in movies (and I'm not talking about adult or X-rated
movies but main stream movies such as Smokey and the Bandit,
Seabiscuit, etc...). Pony Play is all around.
Is Pony Play for Everyone? Probably
not,
just like broccoli or auto racing or running a marathon... not
everyone will enjoy or want to do Pony Play, but there are a lot of
those that do. It's all for "kicks and grins" as they say....
it's Challenging and fun.
Is Sex A Part of Pony Play? For me,
no; It is a power exchange, a challenge, endurance test, etc...
(like weight lifting or marathon running). So is sex a part of
Pony Play? Not
Usually, however; this is a question that is determined by the
consenting individuals who are participating. There are couples I know that enjoy pony play with each other as a form of
foreplay or to enhance their sex life. There are others, such
as myself, that enjoy Pony Play more as an adventure or sport.
Similar to a marathon runner that works hard, pushes himself, for
the race. There is a wonderful feeling of satisfaction upon
completing the race (even if in last place). Some may
understand that, most will not but that is the best I can explain
it.
